well not much but with the summer comes a lot of free time .. im only taking 10h of school soooooo ive been working on something diffrent.. its a flixel game .. it will be call death take a holiday .. its kinda a prototype for general flixel game ideas.. basics are your death (well really your a contractor for blackwater which does all the work the old Death did but for cheaper some how anyways) so you have decided to take the day off and you want to get to the beach problem is that if your touch anything with a soul it dies and you collect the soul… if you collect too many souls you have to be teleported back to Deathco inc HQ to turn them back in (eg die) and you must start all over again! sounds fun!

so here are some basic screens

this was a basic tile map so i could see how everything looked .. as you can tell it looks like crap

so i spent about 2hours learning how to make this not suck and we got this

that is sooooo much better… finally here is the main character

he is a lil small but packs a scythe

.. so maybe a accually complete a game … YEAH

heh so the other day Amara says to me “Hey what blogs should i follow?” i said I didnt know, then she was like “i should follow your blog.” and i was like Wait I have a BLOG?…. so what have i been doing well nothing much … but i have decided i need to do some sketching come up with some idea and what not… i have decided to take a break with my flixel project to let it marinate some more…. so ive got a couple sketches

so i was just messing around and got a couple cool little sketches im digging the robot with the ominous green eye… also this worker i would like to make this guy into a game

so this is a pretty nasty guy but turns out he is the protagonist to the idea i have. this would be a castleoid mixed with monster party… you see cause this guys is a werewolf …

so im taking a break from AtoP while let some ideas about it marinate, but im always working next game is going to be Windthorp 1860′s Dinosaur Hunter! here is a small taste

well not really. i kinda made some basic test levels and reworked the 3way shot .. but i have not added any new bosses so its just the same boss

things to work on:

-new bosses

-rework spread shot

- find away for the score/lives/power level to transfer to the next level

its at the same drop.io so honestly i just need to bang out a few more things and then this game is in the bag.

so i was messing around with AotP and i finished a “level” its not really a big deal but its fun enough for me to post a build of it on drop.io ive taken out the laser but i think its still fun.

as far as flixel goes i have some work to show its at drop.io/GigaBlam its really just a guy that can run and jump but im working on more

also if anybody knows how to post flash files or unity files on a basic wordpress account let me know

yeah so sorry to my one reader that i didnt update this week … two things got in the way

speaking of flixel its looks like it takes out what i had always thought was the hassle of flash games… that being flash. its still “flash” but its pretty much written in Action Script 3 which is cool… also i got and educational copy of Flex Builder .. so thats even cooler.

head on over to flixel.org and check out some of the games made with it, my favs so far have been Canabalt, Fathom, and Gravity Hook.

also im trying out Drop.io for distribution of Attack of the PRIMITIVES … so there is a mac and window version here but all i did was add in the laser.. hold for 5 seconds it will rain destruction for 3 secs or when you let go which ever comes first

so i played around with AotP on my mac and on a friends PC and i noticed some lag and crashing .. im thinking its because i was pushing waaaaaaaay to many bullets some i changed that and i feel like it is running nicer on my mac so ill put up this update.

so the plan for the game is going to be this

score based upgrade system:

- if you make the cutoff score you get the next weapon upgrade

- enemy bullets can destroy other enemies which decreases your score

- the weapon levels are 1 shot , 3 shot, spread, hold for laser and homing missles

Enemies:

type 1: shoots 1 bullet

type 2: shoots 3 shot spread

type 3: shoots shotgun spread

type 4: laser beam

type 5: missles

levels

level 1: type 1 primitive, huge boss that doesnt shoot but slowly comes down and has a ton of HP

level 2: type 1 and type 2 primitives, large boss but shoots back

level 3: types 1,2,3, medium sized boss but moves around alot and has shot gun shots

level 4: types 1,2,3,4, medium boss shoots a HUGE laser

level 5: types 1,2,3,4,5, large boss bullet hell plus lasers
